Murakami Takashi x Shu Uemura Celebrate Six Heart Princess Cosmetics Collaboration

In anticipation of the November 11th release of Shu Uemura’s Christmas Collection, Six Heart Princess by Takashi Murakami for Shu, Shibuya Hikarie held the first event in Japan heralding the launch of the new, limited edition cosmetics collection. Shu Uemura staged a fashion make-up show and Murakami Takashi shared his thoughts with the audience. The stage filled with cosplayers and dancers inspired by Murakami Takashi’s version of Six Heart Princess (6HP), and featured performances by the Kyary Pamyu Pamyu dancers.

The theme created by Shu Uemura for his 30th anniversary celebration is “transformation”––one that brings out the “pink” and “black” sides of a woman. The collection includes a nineteen-product lineup including cleansing oil, foundation, eyelashes, palette kits and the December 1st release of a special make-up box. Events will be held throughout November including the opening of a pop-up boutique in the basement floor of Shinjuku Lumine from November 14th to 21st.

The collection features the 6HP characters created by Murakami Takashi for his 2010 Versailles exhibition––it will additionally feature a new character, the Black Princess. Murakami announced that the collaboration represents his desire to break new boundaries. A team of artists, Kz (music), mebae (character design and direction), and Maeda Ken (choreography) will create a special online 6HP animation feature slated for early October release.
