From her website: Yumiko Kayukawa grew up in the small town of Naie in Hokkaido, Japan. In this pristine, natural surroundings, she found her love of animals and nature which later became an important theme of her work. As she grew up, Yumiko drew inspirations from American pop culture such as Rock & Roll, film and fashion. These influences are fused with modern and traditional Japanese motifs to create her unique style.
Ooh la la, Kayukawa’s largest piece to date, featured in an early ‘lowbrow’ artist exhibition We’ll Make A Lover Of You curated by Francesco LoCastro for Art Basil Miami in 2006. Recently Yumiko has sold out her editions and originals on the popular art site 1xRun, among the sold out works was the $6800 painting Duty (only half the size of Ooh La La)! An original Kayukawa will serve as a classic addition to your collection!
